A Wee Spot for Eeyore

Craving the news

It seems that when winter arrives, I can't get enough of talk radio or newspapers or current event/opinion programming. And then this morning, over coffee and miniwheats, I was watching some television news and couldn't turn it off fast enough. Perhaps it was the combination of visual images with the lack of control over what I was hearing.....I don't know - but I didn't like it. It made me upset because all the news was bad, or frightening, or whatnot. I wonder if it's necessary for us to hear all the details about horrific crimes, or if a general, vague interpretation would do justice. Life seems to have changed since the new era of instantaneous information. Our stress levels seem to have gone up as a result - we're more worried, more fearful, more cautious. Well, at least I am. Sometimes I like living in my little, uninformed bubble, where the world is going to last forever and people are nice to each other. Ah, well......

A wintry Sunday

Today, as is the usual for Sundays, I decided to clean the house. I needed to purchase some cleaning supplies in order to accomplish this task, so I bundled up to walk. After all, I just registered for my big Weekend in September on Saturday, so I figured I should start my "training"!! I was reminded of how much I used to walk - and of how much I do not walk anymore. Ah, the wonderful convenience of the automobile. However, I would like to vow to walk more, if not for the physical benefits, then for the environmental benefits. I would hate for there to be no Earth for my children to enjoy. If you are interested in my walk, check out www.endcancer.ca to find out more. I challenge you all to walk more! and I'll keep you posted on my decrease in car use and dependance.

Welcome!

Hello there! I've decided since I have some time on my hands, and MSN blogs annoy me with their finnicky ways, that I would have another go at blogger. I'm a little interested to see what will happen now that people will have to actually visit the site to see if anything is new, instead of just looking at my messenger indication. I hope this spot will be interesting for you. It is simply a place to collect my thoughts and to ponder on interesting events. We'll see where it evolves from there.
